Evaluation of water quality of Çoruh River Basin (Turkey) using some biotic indices

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the water quality of Çoruh Basin using BMWP (Biological Monitoring Working Party) index, ASPT (Average Score Per Taxon) Shannon-Wiener Diversity Index, EPT (Ephemeroptera Plecoptera Trichoptera taxa), EP taxa) index scores and benthic macroinvertebrates. The macroinvertebrates were collected from 54 stations at basin between 2014-2016 years. Standard hand net (D-frame net) Ekman-Birge grab used as sampling tools. As a result diagnoses, total 7246 individuals belonging Insecta, Crustacea, Mollusca, Oligochaeta Plathyhelminthes obtained. It determined that most dominant group Insecta rarest Plathyhelminthes. observed score ranged 5 94, lowest highest number families detected in 1 18, respectively. Shannon Wiener diversity value 0.54-2.20, therefore streams generally showed moderate pollution. results show had mostly 3rd 4th class also biodiversity decreases with deterioration riverbed or exposure
